Past participants in the program uniformly agree that the highlight of their stay was becoming a member of a Venezuelan family. Generally, Venezuelans possess an incredibly warm and kind-hearted spirit and are very open and helpful. Nearly all families have hosted program participants before. All have been chosen for their genuine interest in sharing Venezuelan life with a visiting program participant.  

Each student is matched with a family based on preferences and requests.  three daily meals, double or single private rooms, a private lockbox for valuables / documents is provided. The homestay family will also meet each student ar Mérida's airport upon arrival (along with the Nuevos Encuentros group).

Through interaction, the homestay family is a vital link to the social and cultural life of Mérida.
